Data sources & commercial use
MET Norway — Locationforecast 2.0
Forecast data is offered under CC BY 4.0, allowing commercial reuse with attribution. Weather Iraq converts timestamps, units and presentation. This does not imply endorsement. Retain “MET Norway · CC BY 4.0” with redistributed data.
NASA POWER
NASA POWER provides openly available derived meteorological and solar data. Government-produced data generally has no US copyright restriction, but third-party elements, logos and endorsement rights are separate. Cite NASA POWER and its underlying MERRA-2 / GEOS-IT / CERES sources as reported by each response. Data is gridded analysis, not station observation.
NOAA / NCEP
US government-produced GFS / CFSv2 data is generally public domain and may be processed for commercial applications. NOAA trademarks and endorsement are not granted. GFS model fields are processed and visualized by Weather Iraq. CFSv2 anomaly products remain unavailable until their processing and verification are complete.
Place names
The seed directory is a manually curated set of geographical facts and rounded city-centre coordinates, dedicated to CC0. It covers 21 principal cities and all 19 governorates, not every settlement. Coordinate lookup supports the regional bounding box; it is not an authoritative border check.
API access and cost
MET Norway currently offers free access, with commercial reuse under CC BY 4.0. More than 20 requests per second across the entire application requires special agreement; excess or noncompliant traffic can be throttled or blocked. NASA POWER describes its datasets as free. NOAA/NWS government data may be used without charge for lawful purposes, subject to exceptions and service rules.
No automatic usage-based API billing plan was found in the official pages checked on 2026-10-28 for these services. This is not a promise of perpetual free or unlimited access. Cloudflare hosting, storage and Workers AI have separate limits and potential charges.
Launch review
Policies can change. Recheck current provider licenses and service conditions before commercial launch. These summaries are not a guarantee of perpetual free service or legal advice. MET Norway and NOAA policy pages were retrieved during development on 2026-10-27; NASA POWER referencing guidance and data policy status are documented in docs/DATA-LICENSES.md. Recheck all policies before launch. No Open-Meteo service is used.
